Multi-station changeovers
How multi-station changeover synchronization (full or source-to-target) works and what Evocon Support needs to set it up.
On this page
Multi-station changeover synchronization allows you to manage changeovers across multiple workstations simultaneously, eliminating manual duplication and ensuring consistency across your manufacturing floor.
Synchronization types
Full synchronization
In full synchronization mode, all selected stations share identical changeovers as a unified group.
How it works:
- Select multiple stations (e.g., Station X, Y, Z, W) to form a sync group.
- Any changeover created, edited, or deleted on one station automatically applies to all stations in the group.
- All stations maintain identical changeover schedules at all times.
- Production speed for the product in question must be the same for all stations.
Best for:
- Production lines where stations perform identical operations.
- Maintaining strict consistency across multiple stations.
- Scenarios where any station can initiate changeover updates.
What information is needed for the Support team to set it up:
- All the station names or IDs that should belong to this sync group.
Source-to-target synchronization
In source-to-target mode, one station acts as the master source, pushing updates to designated target stations.
How it works:
- Designate one station as the "source" (e.g., Station X).
- Select one or more "target" stations (e.g., Station Y, Z, W).
- Changeovers created or modified on the source station automatically clone to all target stations.
- Target stations can make local modifications, but these create temporary "forks" (see the explanation below).
- Any subsequent update from the source overwrites forked versions and re-establishes sync.
Fork behavior:
- When a target station modifies a synced changeover, it temporarily breaks sync for that station only.
- When a changeover is added to a target station (and not the source), this changeover will remain in the target station only. If there is a changeover added to the exact same time on the source station, it overwrites the changeover that was previously added to the target station only.
- The forked changeover operates independently until the next source station update.
- Source station updates always take precedence and overwrite local target station modifications.
Best for:
- Hierarchical production setups with a master control station.
- Scenarios where one station sets the standard for others.
- Maintaining source authority while allowing temporary local adjustments.
What information is needed for the Support team to set it up:
- Source station name or ID and the target station name(s) or ID(s).
System requirements and validation
Product availability
All stations in a sync group must have the required products available in their product catalog. If a target station lacks a required product, the changeover will fail with an error message.
Shift requirements
Target stations must have active shifts at the scheduled changeover time to receive synchronized changeovers.
Backwards compatibility
Editing past changeovers updates the changeovers on all relevant stations.
